At Romax we have developed and successfully delivered high quality dynamic models and reliable control software for various hybrid and electric vehicle systems and applications, P0 through to P4, including:
Transmission control systems: Various transmission systems such as AMT, DCT, CVT etc. with associated sensors and actuators for gear shifting and park-lock functionality, developing high reliability and high integrity (commensurate with ISO 26262 requirements) control software, compatible with the AUTOSAR architecture standard as required.
E-Machine control systems: Field Orientated Control (FOC) of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSM) for both vehicle traction control and E-Machine synchronisation during gear shifts. We have modelled various E-machine types, including the use of the MATLAB/Simulink and PLECS toolchains for simulation, analysis and automated code generation.
Battery management systems (BMS): Incorporating, in state-space, the non-linear dynamics of battery systems, including the ability to estimate state-of-charge (SOC), state-of-health (SOH) and to balance cell voltages etc with a high level of confidence. We have also developed generic Extended and Unscented Kalman filters (EKF, UKF, RLS) to estimate battery SOC, SOH and other important performance parameters. Furthermore, we have developed test scripts for the validation of these algorithms. In addition, we have developed battery management software for contactor control logic, fault diagnosis and safe battery operation.
48V Belt-driven Starter Generator (BSG) control systems: Implementing electrification features in our control algorithms, such as: Torque/Power split management, Smart Charging, Boosting, Auto-Start/Stop, Change-of-Mind, Deceleration Fuel Cut Off (DFCO) Regen, E-Idle control strategies, for improved powertrain and drivetrain performance and efficiency.
Autonomous vehicle systems: delivering platooning control software for trucks in a simulation environment to validate and analyse the associated control algorithms. We have also developed safety architectures for vehicle autonomy, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and powertrain solutions.
