What is Bearing Skidding?
Skidding in bearings is the gross sliding of rolling elements on raceways. Skidding occurs when the traction forces between rolling elements and raceways are not enough to overcome viscous drag and inertial forces. This gross sliding could lead to high subsurface shear stress and eventually to premature failure long before a classical fatigue failure.
Suitable lubricant, adequate load and correct application are essential in preventing this.
How can Romax assist with bearing requirements?
Romax Spin offers advanced, integrated analysis of rolling element bearings, including accurate prediction of element and raceway stresses, rib contact, edge stress, and contact truncation. Our engineering services can also help you to accurately assess your bearing parameters and achieve optimal results.
