CSR Qishuyan Institute and Romax Technology sign strategic alliance agreement

CSR Qishuyan Institute Co., Ltd (QYS) and Romax Technology Ltd (Romax) have signed a strategic alliance agreement defining a long term partnership on wind energy gearbox design.  The agreement builds on an existing relationship to develop future collaboration on technology transfer and product development.

Collaboration between the two companies on wind energy gearbox design dates back to 2009, when Romax provided a bespoke technology transfer programme, supported by their design and analysis software package, RomaxWind.

As a result, QYS developed a wind energy gearbox design team, which with Romax’s continued support, successfully developed 1.65MW and 2.5MW gearboxes for the Chinese wind energy market. The 1.65MW gearbox has already passed the strict GL A-Design assessment and the 2.5MW gearbox is expected to achieve the same certification within a month.

The recently signed agreement means QYS will continue to utilise the support of Romax to realise their ambitions of achieving the leading position in the Chinese wind gearbox supply market as well as exporting their products overseas.  The next phase of their collaboration is already underway; the design and development of a 5MW wind turbine gearbox.
