Romax Awarded GL Design Assessment for 3MW Gearbox Design
Global engineering consultancy Romax Technology is pleased to announce that its 3MW DHWG3000 gearbox has been awarded a GL Renewables Certification (GL) B-Design Assessment. The DHWG3000 gearbox, designed by Romax, is currently in volume production for Sinovel’s SL3000 turbines and is manufactured by Dalian Huarui.
The 3MW certification represents the culmination of a successful partnership between Romax and Dalian Huarui. Romax provided a full technical service package including design of the gearbox, assistance for prototype manufacture and certification tests, support for series manufacture, technology training and RomaxWIND software. The award of the 3MW gearbox design assessment is the latest in a long line of successful gearbox and drivetrain designs for Romax; the consultancy has recently had 750kW, 1.5MW, 2MW and 2.5MW designs all achieve prototype certification.
Xiaobing Hu, Business Development Director at Romax commented: “Just a few short years ago, the number of local Chinese wind turbine gearboxes with European certification was negligible. By working closely with GL we are able to bring the highest standards of design and manufacturing quality to the Chinese wind gearbox industry. We believe this is a significant step for Romax, and signals the increasing maturity and global competitiveness of the Chinese wind industry”
Mike Woebbeking, Vice President GL Renewables Certification, commented “We have worked with Romax for many years; and have observed their dedication in working with their customers to meet GL’s exacting guidelines for design, manufacturing and testing. We are delighted that Romax has achieved GL’s B-DA approval for such a significant gearbox in China’s wind industry.
