romax innovation history

Our Head of Research and Innovation reflects on Romax’s long history of collaborating with other CAE companies and considers where it might lead in the future

‘Romax’ Head of Research and Innovation, Barry James, joined Romax in 1995 and has enjoyed a wide ranging and interesting career during the time in which the company’s size and turnover has increased over 40 fold. Highlights have included commercialising Romax’s transmission design and analysis software in all areas of the world, setting up Romax’s transmission design capability, leading design projects for passenger car, truck and wind turbine gearboxes and leading Romax into hybrid and electric vehicle engineering.

In the 6th edition of Transmission Magazine, Barry James talks of our partnerships with other CAE led companies; where the company has been, and where the future might take us.

“Our experience from the past 20 years has enabled us to develop an approach to partnering that allows us to be open, fair and honest in our dealings with the many partners, big and small, who wish to build bridges with the Romax ecosystem. In the end, those with whom we make greatest and fastest progress are those who match us in openness and enthusiasm for providing the market with ever better products. We aim to be experts in the field of our application and our software aims to provide (or collect together in an ecosystem) ‘all physics for one application’ as opposed to ‘one physics for all applications.”
