Romax Technology to sponsor motorsport car design by providing access to latest game-changing software

Romax Technology are sponsoring Sweden’s Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) Formula Student team, a motorsport group that designs, manufactures and tests a complete car as part of Europe’s most established educational motorsport competition.

Backed by F1 industry and a high-profile engineer such as patron Ross Brawn, the competition aims to develop enterprising and innovative engineers and encourage more young people to take up a career in engineering.

With a strong track record in supporting innovation sharing within the engineering community, Romax Technology will be providing the KTH Formula Student team with access to its software tool Romax Enduro, the trusted industry standard software solution for powertrain durability simulation and optimisation, which enables rapid and intuitive modelling, detailed structural analysis and component rating. KTH will use the tool to create a more efficient, practical and sustainable car.

The project is focused around learning to work as a team and producing a high-quality product together. The experiences gained from the yearlong project gives the members a head start in the transition between academic studies and the future workplace.

Romax is proud to offer its game-changing software to the students, who will be competing in two classes: Electric EV and Driverless DV vehicles.

“Romax Technology are proud to support University racing teams such as KTH, by providing Romax software to design and analyse the powertrain of their student racing car. These competitions provide invaluable experience for future engineers, as they take students beyond textbook theory by enabling them to design, build, and test the performance of a real vehicle and then compete with other students from around the globe in exciting and intense competitions.”

“At the KTH Royal Institute of Technology, we are a team of 5 focussing on designing a planetary gearbox for the formula student race car for the event in 2020. We are setting out to design powerful and robust gears using software that incorporates system and component design (shafts, bearings, couplings etc). Romax’ software will provide us with this and more, with its cutting-edge design capabilities and unique product benefits. We are excited to see how the software can support us in this project.”

KTH Formula Student is one of many academic institutions that form part of the Romax ecosystem, a partnership programme that provides over 100 partners with next generation technology engineering.
