Gear Design for Manufacture – Hob Rack Design
Date: , 09:00 & 16:00 BST
Presented by: Stewart Hughes, Team Leader – Gear and Manufacturing Technology, Romax Technology
Understanding design for manufacture is critical to achieve a profitable development process. In this webinar, a gear manufacturing expert will explain hob rack design for gear hobbing, the most widely used method for pre-finishing gears.
The hob rack generates the desired tooth shape and fillet radius. Each feature of hob rack design is described along with issues that can arise and how to correct them. Hob quality grading and how other hob design features affect gear quality is included. Finally, we discuss the hob rack design using Romax software, how to design a hob rack from gear data and how to design a gear from hob rack data.
What attendees will learn:
- Background to design–for–manufacture of hobbed gears
- An understanding of the critical issues to consider when designing gearing to be manufactured using gear hobs
Who should attend?
Engineers with an interest in gear design and gearbox development
